Thorens HiFi TD147 record player Mahogany frame:
Information from Thorens:
"When electronics were also used on a large scale in turntables at the beginning of the 80s, the TD 147 seemed like a relic from the days when everything still worked mechanically. Instead of an electronically controlled tonearm, as is the case with many Japanese turntables, the tried and tested TP 16 Mk III with exchangeable tonearm tube was used. The speed of the classic belt drive was also switched mechanically, by moving the drive belt via a lever on the stepped drive wheel (pulley).
With the special vibration damping of the sub-chassis and motor support plate, the TD 147 corresponded to a large extent to the TD 160 Super (it was also sold without a tone arm as the TD 160 Super BC). Compared to the latter, however, it was equipped with a contactless optoelectronic limit switch.
The 3 kg higher weight compared to other models (e.g. TD 146 Mk. II) resulted from the use of the 10mm bearing with metal inner platter and MDF as frame material."
