Quote from the Braun brochure from back then:
"The R4/2 fulfills several tasks at once. First of all, it is the control center of the remote-controlled Atelier system. It is also an amplifier and tuner in one device, i.e. an amplifier and radio receiver. The R4 receives the signal from the RC1 remote control and forwards it internally to a processor that controls the corresponding module. No matter which function you select: The display clearly reports back where the music is playing from. The R4/2 has 2 x 130 watts of music power. If you want to connect active speakers or an external power amplifier, the preamp and power amplifier in the R4/2 can be easily separated. The R4/2 not only amplifies sound signals from hi-fi components, but also from televisions. This allows you to amplify the TV sound in hi-fi quality. The R4/2 doesn't skimp on luxury when it comes to the interplay of picture and sound either. It has an automatic TV function, which means that it switches itself on when you switch on the TV. Of course, the R4/2 is also an excellent radio set. A PLL quartz synthesizer tuner to be precise, which ultimately means crystal-clear reception. To save you having to search for stations, the R4/2 has a preset memory. You can store 30 stations - either on AM or FM."

Optical condition:
The casing is clean and in good condition, with slight signs of wear on the controls. The display is clear and without scratches. Overall, the device looks good and shows only the usual signs of use (light scratches and or marks) on the case, which are typical for its age.
