Braun described this device in its brochures as follows:

"Record player with quartz-controlled direct drive. "ULM" tonearm and fully automatic. The P3 achieves the excellent synchronisation value through quartz control. The quartz frequency can be switched off and the speed adjusted by +/- 3.5% for individual pitch fine-tuning. All functional sequences are controlled from the front using short-stroke buttons. Speed and disc diameter can be adjusted separately - e.g. for maxi-singles. The turntable and tonearm are acoustically decoupled by sub-chassis and are digital-proof. The tonearm in "ULM" technology is dynamically balanced, which means that the scanning properties do not change even with warped discs. The P3 is equipped with the Ortofon mag 2-E magnetic system as standard."
